The three-week search for a new football coach at Oxford High School is officially over. On Friday, the Oxford City School Board unanimously approved the hire and he was formally introduced. He replaces Ryan Herring who left to take the head coaching job at Pierce County High in Georgia. Etheredge served as head coach at T.R. Miller last season and at Pell City in 2016 and 2017. But it was his 10-year stint at Leeds that separated him from the pack for the Yellow Jacket's position.
Under Etheredge's leadership, the Greenwave won 107 games and four state championships (2008, 2010, 2014 & 2015). He went graduated from Leeds High School where he played against Oxford then later did his student teaching assignment at OHS while a student at Jacksonville State. He knows the level of tradition at Oxford and he is ready to add to the program's success. Etheredge has a 125-49 overall record and 12 playoff appearances.
