Nationwide Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

The second Saturday in May will mark the 27th anniversary of one of America’s greatest days of giving and letter carriers need your help stamping out hunger. The Anniston Post Office wants to encourage its customers to donate non-perishable items in order to provide food for people who are in need. The “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive is always held during a crucial time of year.

Food banks and pantries are typically low on supplies during spring and summer time when school meal programs are not available. The donations collected locally will go directly to food pantries in Anniston. Participating in this food drive is simple. All you have to do is leave your food donation in a bag by your mailbox before your mail is delivered on Saturday and your letter carrier will handle the rest.

Last year, more than 71 million pounds of food was collected nationwide last year. Contact your area postal office to find out if letter carriers will be participating in the National one day Food Drive.
