Regions Bank Robbery in Oxford

Police say a Georgia man robbed the Regions Bank on Quintard Avenue shortly after it opened Wednesday morning. After getting a description of the suspect, Oxford police worked with the new Metro Area Crime Center to track him down. In less than 30 minutes, the center provided the name of the suspect and his address in Newnan, Georgia.

Newnan police went to his apartment complex and saw him stepping out of his door. When he saw the police, the suspect went back inside and police heard a single gunshot from behind the door. When they entered the apartment, police found the suspect dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. The bank robber’s name has not yet been released.
