Westbrook Christian Baseball Heads To State Finals

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

The final two baseball teams in each classification are headed to Montgomery for the state championship series.

The Westbrook Christian Warriors are one of two local teams in the mix. On Wednesday, TV24 Sports caught up with the team as they left campus for the state capitol. You could make an argument that the Warriors are the hottest team in the state heading to Montgomery. Through the first four rounds, WCS have outscored their opponents by 100 runs (118-18). The Warriors have posted double digits runs and they have allowed more than one run just once in the playoffs.

The team waiting for them in the championship series has a long and familiar history with the setting. G.W. Long has captured 15 state championships since 1980 - the most of any school in the state. The Rebels, coached by Drew Miller, knocked off Thorsby in the semifinals to make their third straight trip to the finals.
