The Gadsden Public Library held a public forum that focused on issues within the community and how to work towards shaping their economic future. Important questions that were asked to community participants were, “Where are we now? Where do we want to go? And, How do we get there?
The David Matthews Center for Civil Life recently celebrated ten years of strengthening civic life throughout Alabama by hosting public forums. During the “What’s Next Alabama?” forum, conversations where held that focused on the community’s assets, challenges, and opportunities. Some issues that were addressed were high school dropout rates, the epidemic of bullying, and the challenge of raising healthy children.
Handy says she hopes to begin seeing change in the community as members continue working together to find a creative solution that benefits everyone.
