Alabama Sets Employment Record
More people are working in Alabama than ever before. Studies show that more than 35,000 people have received jobs that are supported by the economy within the last year. According to the Alabama Department of Labor, in April, more than 2.1 million people are working. More people are in the labor force than ever before and Secretary of Labor Fitzgerald Washington says they’re working hard to make sure everyone who wants a job has one.
Wage and salary employment grew last month by nearly 11,000. April’s gains were seen in leisure and hospitality, construction, and the professional business services sectors. 66 of Alabama’s 67 counties saw unemployment rates drop or stay the same during the month of April.
