Safety Tips for a Safe and Healthy Summer

Outside temperatures are rising which means it’s time to get outside, have fun, and also get some things done. But as with all things, safety should be your number one priority. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a few tips to keep you safe and healthy. If you plan to spend time at the pool, the CDC recommends you check for the latest inspection score. Chemicals used to keep the pool clean can be mishandled and can cause injuries.

Heat-related illnesses kill more than 600 people in the US each year. It’s important that you pay attention to heat advisories, wear cool clothing, and stay inside when necessary. If you plan on being outside for a portion of the day, make sure to wear sunscreen, it only takes 15 minutes to get sunburn. Bug spray is also encouraged to have in order to keep the bugs that carry diseases away. Food poisoning peaks during summer months due to warmer temperatures, so make sure to thoroughly cook any meat before serving.
