A special ceremony will take place Friday for East-Central Alabama’s latest advancement in crime reduction. The East-Metro Area Crime Center is a regional intelligence gathering center that will be operated by the Oxford Police Department. This facility welcomes law enforcement personnel throughout the region to utilize its advancement capabilities.
The EMACC allows for law enforcement personnel to gather information more quickly and efficiently to catch and deter criminal activity within our region. Earlier this year, Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge announced that since the department introduced predictive and intelligence policing, the city’s overall crime rate has dropped nearly 30%.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the East Metro Area Crime Center begins at 2pm on Friday.
