House Approves 'Pay Raise Bill' for Educators
Public school teachers and employees could see their salary increase by 4% now that state lawmakers approved the pay raise bill. Each vote from the House of Representatives voted in favor of the pay raise ball that Governor Kay Ivey called for in her State of the State speech in March.
The pay raise is part of the proposed $7 billion education spending plan for the next fiscal year. If signed by Governor Ivey, the increase would take the starting salary pay for a teacher with a bachelor’s degree to nearly $41,000.
