Every year, the National Main Street Center and its partners announce a list of accredited Main Street America Programs to recognize their commitment to their communities through the Main Street Approach. And this year, Downtown Gadsden Incorporated has been recognized. To be accredited as a Main Street America program, programs must meet rigorous performance standards set by the National Main Street Center.
Programs must build comprehensive and sustainable revitalization efforts, foster strong private and public partnerships, in addition to preserving historic buildings. Last year, Main Street America Programs generated nearly $5 billion in local re-investments, created more than 25,000 jobs and clocked in 2.2 million volunteer hours.
These programs help to inspire young and older people to not only give back to their communities, but to move back to their hometowns, become entrepreneurs and breathe new life into downtown and neighborhood commercial districts.
Moore wants to invite everyone out to Downtown Gadsden’s first Friday event taking place on June 8th. There will be hundreds of classic car, dozens of food vendors and restaurants, music and more.
