After nine weeks of rigorous training, several recruits are now certified firefighters. Firefighters from Anniston, Gadsden, and Jacksonville areas were among some of the graduates during today’s ceremony. Family members and close friends gathered today to witness the graduates complete a major accomplishment.

For the past nine weeks, the recruits went through training that is similar to military training. The recruits were tested physically and academically. Captain Scot Westbrook says they excelled at both.

Aaron Vaughn, firefighter for the Anniston Fire Department, says that the one thing he will cherish the most is the brotherhood established through the recruitment process. All graduating firefighters will return to their duties beginning next week.
