Governor Kay Ivey has ordered all flags to be lowered at half-staff as a mark of respect to the victims of the mass shooting in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Twelve people were killed and four were wounded as a gunman opened fire in a municipal building in Virginia Beach on May 31st. The attacker resigned from his position inside the government office building hours before the shooting.
Officials say there was no indication the attacker targeted anyone specifically. The gunman was wounded and taken to the hospital where he later died. The victims killed had served the city of Virginia Beach for more than 150 years.
