A grant that provides funds to first responders and stakeholders in support of efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events is now open to all of Calhoun County. The Alabama Homeland Security Grant Program is in support of preparing for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risks to the security of the United States.
Law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency management agencies, and rescue squads are all eligible applicants. Boards of education and public utility services are also eligible. Specific funding can range from $10,000 to $50,000. An informational meeting on the grant program will be held this Thursday at 10am at the Calhoun County Emergency Operations Center in Jacksonville.
