New Ventilation System to be Installed in Piedmont Fire Station

Thursday, June 20, 2019

The City of Piedmont voted unanimously to add a ventilation system to the city’s fire station. According to WEIS Radio, Fire Chief Mike Ledbetter put in a request for one during a city council meeting in May. Chief Ledbetter says that installing a ventilation system will capture the fire truck’s diesel exhaust, which is linked to an increased risk of cancer among firefighters.

During the most recent council meeting, the city accepted a low bid for purchase and installation of Safe Air’s Plymovent Premium ventilation system for more than $48,000. The system is scheduled to be installed within the next 30 days.
