Bipartisan Bill Would Force Tech Companies to Reveal Worth of Data
Tech companies are known to collect its users' data and make a profit from it. A bill recently introduced to the Senate could force those companies to show exactly what the market value is for that personal data they collect from each individual.
A bill called the “Dashboard Act” would force top tech companies such as Google, Amazon, and Facebook to reveal how much it makes from users' data. This bill would apply to tech companies with more than 100 million monthly users.
This bill was introduced today in order to increase transparency and could also help antitrust regulators determine if those big platforms are hurting competition among other tech companies.
