Merrill Hall Demolition to Possibly Begin July 22

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

A date is set for the demolition of Merrill Hall on the campus of Jacksonville State University despite its ongoing dispute with the insurance company. According to JSU Director of Public Relations Buffy Lockette, during the University’s Trustees emergency meeting held earlier today, the date for possible demolition to begin on the former business academic building is July 22nd.

The university’s insurance company wants to offer JSU $15 million for Merrill Hall, but the university believes the building is worth $22 million.

Lockette also says JSU’s summer enrollment has gone up by 14%.
