Wednesday’s evening rain didn’t stop hundreds of cyclists from attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the state’s first mountain bike trail. The McClellan Development Authority hosted a ceremony and later allowed mountain bicyclists to ride on the trails for the first time. Officially certified by the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, the trails at McClellan are long, rugged, and exciting.
Alyssa Fagan and Tanner Roden are a part of the Cheaha Mountain Bike Racing Team, and they are thrilled to have this trail so close to home.
MDA Board Member Freeman Fite says the longer the trails are, the longer visitors will stay to enjoy them. As Fite mentions, the McClellan Mountain Bike Trail will host the NICA’s second race of the Spring 2020 season. The trails are open daily from dawn until dusk.
