Gadsden City Hosts Black Creek Parkway 7 on 7 Tournament

Football was in the air in Etowah County on Thursday. Gadsden City High School hosted the Black Creek Parkway 7 on 7 Tournament. The event featured hundreds of players from 13 different schools at Titan Stadium. Teams represented today included local teams: GC Titans, Anniston, Jacksonville and Ashville playing against squads from around the state like: Gardendale, Boaz, Albertville, Hueytown, Shades Valley, Huffman, Guntersville, Carver (Birmingham) and Ft. Payne. The tournament allows skill players to work on their timing and coaches to get a good feel of where players can maximize their talents.

The competition not only pits solid teams but also individual players. Top talents including Jacksonville RB Ron Wiggins and Hueytown RB Roydell Williams. Williams is rated the No. 11 running back in the nation, the fourth overall prospect in the state. He was one of 10 players with multiple college offers. As for the competition, Jacksonville and Ft. Payne finished tops in the division after pool play. In tournament play, Shades Valley knocked off Hueytown 26-25 to win the championship.
