Study Shows Fewer Teens Drinking Alcohol

Although underage drinking is still problematic, a study shows that alcohol use among teens has dropped in recent years. A national survey done on 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students for the “2018 Monitoring the Future Study” found that by the end of 12th grade, 59% of students had consumed more than a few sips of alcohol. Nearly 43% of 12th graders say they have been intoxicated at least once in their life.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says parents and guardians should continue to send a message to teens about the dangers of drinking alcohol, and that this will help the numbers to continue to drop.
