Piedmont City Officials Approve Body Cameras for Officers

Thursday, July 4, 2019

Piedmont Police Officers will soon be equipped with a device that will help provide evidence for trials, enable situation awareness, and keep the officers safe. City council members have approved the purchase of body cameras for officers during a recent council meeting. A company called Axon Enterprise in Scottsdale, Arizona has been chosen as the supplier of the body cameras for a cost of more than $58,000. Piedmont Mayor Bill Baker says this will be money well-spent.

The company will provide the police department with 42 cameras over a five year period in addition to cloud-based video storage. A representative will also be sent out to train officers how to operate the body camera.
