The American Red Cross Agency has issued an emergency need for people who are eligible to give blood. Blood donations are currently being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in. There were also fewer donations and blood drives last week due to the Fourth of July Holiday, which resulted in as many as 17,000 fewer blood donations according to the Red Cross.
The Agency says that every two seconds, someone needs blood and every 30 seconds, someone needs platelets in the United States. To schedule your blood donation appointment, log on to RedCrossBlood.org.
