Dozens of concerned residents used their voices to express a need for change along Highway 431 Thursday evening during the public involvement meeting with the Alabama Department of Transportation. The intersection of Gladden Lane and Highway 431 has been a major concern for people traveling through and living in the Alexandria area.
Many feel that the speed limit and no traffic light is to blame for the amount of accidents that take place there. Representatives from ALDOT pitched several possible solutions based on their studies, and Alexandria resident, Jamie Ginn, believes there are still better solutions.
Many people at the meeting believe that a red light could be the best solution.
ALDOT encourages anyone with comments or concerns in regards to traffic safety along Highway 431 to send them to the address on your screen within 10 business days following the July 11th meeting. Your comments along with other factors such as environmental impacts, engineering aspects, and cost will be used to finalize the solution.
