University Receives Line of Credit to Help Demolish Building

It’s been more than a year since the EF-3 tornado stuck the campus of Jacksonville State University, and the rebuilding process is still underway as the school received a $30 million line of credit from Regions Bank in order to help tornado recovery efforts. JSU Public Relations Director Buffy Lockette tells TV24 that the money will go towards demolishing Merrill and Wallace Halls.

The rebuilding process for the two buildings have been put on hold due to and ongoing dispute between the university’s insurance company. Lockette says Merrill Hall is scheduled to begin the demolition process on July 22nd and will take several months to complete. There has not been a date set for the demolition of Wallace Hall.
