Local Ministry Helps Families with School Supplies

In less than a month, students across East Alabama will begin a new school year. The Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center, or JCOC, is working to make sure that area families who can’t afford school supplies receive the help that they need.

Members of the community and local churches have helped the JCOC to work with Wal-Mart to get enough school supplies for 160 children from low income Jacksonville families. The supplies will be available to those in need living in the 36265 zip code beginning Thursday.

If you believe your child qualifies, you are asked to drop by the JCOC located on West Francis Street in Jacksonville to register before Thursday. The office is open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can call the JCOC at (256) 435-1891 to find out about the documents you’ll need to try and qualify.
