Anniston Housing Authority Planning on Demolishing Glen Addie

A housing redevelopment strategy has been approved by the Anniston Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners and part of the strategic plan consist of certain property being demolished and rebuilt.

According to a press release from the Anniston Housing Authority, it has been decided that maintaining Glen Addie Homes as a safe and affordable housing community is no longer in the best interest of its residents. The building is suffering from moisture, condensation, and lack of a vapor barrier in the building substrate. The Housing Authority has installed dehumidifiers, window air conditioning units along with other efforts in order to solve the problems within the building.

During a special called meeting earlier this month, the Housing Authority submitted an Inventory Removal Application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Demolition of Glen Addie Homes and is now waiting for its approval to move forward.
