Etowah County Man Arrested for Possession of Counterfeit Bills


Counterfeit money is continuing to be an issue in Gadsden as police have arrested another person for possession of forged bills. According to the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Phillip Barnes was arrested and booked into the Etowah County Detention Center for first degree Possession of Forged Instrument.

Barnes was later released on a $5,000 bond. The Gadsden Police Department reports that there has been a spike in counterfeit money over the last several weeks. Everyone in the Gadsden area is encouraged to be mindful of this spike when handling and exchanging money.
