The Food and Drug Administration warns Walmart consumers who recently brought Great Value taco seasoning that the item may be contaminated with salmonella. Precautionary action is being taken by Walmart’s taco seasoning supplier, Williams Foods, as a recall has been issued for Great Value’s mild taco seasoning mix and HEB’s reduced sodium taco seasoning. Both recalls are for packets that have a “best if used by date” of July 2021.
The cumin spice ingredient inside the seasoning could possibly have been contaminated with salmonella, which can cause serious infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. If you have either one of these packets inside your pantry, you are encouraged to throw them away of return it to the store of purchase.
