Jacksonville State head coach John Grass and the Gamecock players welcomed members of the media to their annual football media day session on Tuesday. The team reported for camp on Tuesday and fall camp practices are set to begin Wednesday in leadup to the season opener. Unlike last season, there is a lot of certainty around this year's squad. Most notably, the offensive unit returns nine starters including All-American WR Josh Pearson as well as All-OVC performers Darius Anderson & Hunter Sosebee (OL), Zerrick Cooper (QB) and Trae Barry (TE).
As the reigning five-time OVC champions, the target will once again sit squarely on their backs but players say they welcome the challenge in what has become a very competitive conference.

Meanwhile four Jacksonville State players were named 2019 Preseason All-Americans by STATS. Wide Receiver Josh Pearson and safety Marlon Bridges were First Team selections, long snapper Josh Brady was a Second Team pick and offensive lineman Darius Anderson was named to the Third Team.
