New Law Helps Students with Learning Disorder

A new law will aim to help students with a learning disorder. The Alabama Literacy Act will make sure that students who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia get the extra attention they need with reading before reaching the third grade.

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that involves having difficulty reading due to problems identifying speech sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words. The Alabama Literacy Act will go into effect by the 2021-2022 school year.
