3rd Annual Youth Male Retreat
Children are our future. And it’s important to instill valuable lessons within them to help them reach their highest potential. Several local non-profit organizations took a group of special young men to Camp Lee for the third annual “Youth Male Retreat.”
The Fatherhood Initiative in partnership with the Anniston Housing Authority and the Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention gathered more than 60 young men from ages 9 through 18 to participate in a weekend full of activities including canoeing, fishing, and zip-lining.
Men who volunteer with the Fatherhood Initiative will spend quality time with the group to provide support, resources and education to them. Community member Seyram Selase explains why the Fatherhood Initiative Program is a viable part of the community.
The retreat will end with a close out ceremony tomorrow morning followed by breakfast. Selase says the group of young men are enjoying their time getting to know their mentors while also trying out different hobbies and establishing new relationships.
