The high school football season is just 20 days away. Our area team previews continue with a look at the battle for Class 4A Region 6 crown. For the majority of the 2018 season, Hokes Bluff and Jacksonville were on a collision course for the title. The two met in the final region game of the season and the Golden Eagles came away with a 16-14 win in Hokes Bluff to win the title. However, Oneonta had the most postseason success with a trip to the state semifinals. Hokes Bluff head coach Mike Robertson & Jacksonville's Clint Smith know it will be another tough season.
Another similarity between the teams is they return two of the premiere running backs in the state (Darrian Meads - Hokes Bluff & Ron Wiggins - Jacksonville). After being named first team all-state, the coaches of both stars say they are excited for what's ahead in 2019.
