Etowah County Inmate Charged with Promoting Prison Contraband

Drugs being smuggled into the Etowah County Detention Center forced correction deputies to investigate, resulting in one Gadsden inmate being additionally charged with second degree Promoting Prison Contraband. According to Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony Foster has been charged with several more crimes that include Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Chemical Compounds.

Last month, correction deputies recovered methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, and several narcotic drugs from inside the jail. Foster was previously arrested in June for drug trafficking and firearms charges.

In addition to previous charges, Foster’s bond is now more than $216,000, with a $6,500 surety bond included. As the investigation continues into drugs being smuggled inside the jail, Foster could face additional state and federal charges.
