Gadsden Church Holds Common Prayer Hours for Mass Shooting Victims
In the wake of the two past tragic events, a local church invited residents to participate in an hour of common prayer to express love and thoughts to those who are hurting. The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden encouraged local residents of all religious and political backgrounds and beliefs to come out to this event as an effort to gather everyone together in love to help make a difference for families affected by the mass shootings.
Names of victims whose lives were lost in the wake of the violence were read out loud followed by a chime bell that the church uses in ceremonies. Youth Director, Kevin Yates, is responsible for creating this event after he read comments on social media suggesting the shootings were politically motivated. Yates says he believes that prayers and thoughts are still important, especially when tragedy strikes.
