Thousands of children within our region are faced with adversity and are often times struggling to find ways to deal with it. An organization that provides positive role models for children throughout Northeast Alabama held an event today to help those children achieve the success that they deserve.
Dozens of supporters and golfers gathered at the Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe to be a part of the sixth annual “Golf for Kids’ Sake” tournament. The money raised during today’s tournament will help children enrolled in the “Big Brothers Big Sisters” of Northeast Alabama. The program helps match the children with mentors supported by professionals who will help them overcome obstacles and guide them towards personal and academic achievements. Since this program was founded in 1982, it has been proven to work with countless success stories.
With the high success rate, Big Brothers Big Sisters are always looking for mentors who are willing to volunteer. Last year, 287 children were enrolled in the mentoring program. If you would like to learn more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, you can visit their Facebook page.
