Alabama Sets New Record Low Unemployment Rate

Alabama set four new economic records during the month of July. According to Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington, more than 57,000 Alabamians that didn’t have jobs last year, now have one. Last month’s unemployment rate was 3.3%, which is a new record low. More than 2.1 million people in the state are employed, that’s nearly 58,000 more than in July of 2018.

Governor Kay Ivey believes the effort being made towards bringing more jobs and employers to the state is working. All 67 counties saw declines in their over-the-year unemployment rates, with drops ranging from more than half of a percentage point to more than three percentage points.
