JSU Students Begin Fall Semester

School is officially back in session for one local university as students, faculty, and staff, were welcomed back to the friendliest campus in the south. Students at Jacksonville State University returned back from summer break to begin their fall semester today.

Earlier this week, students were allowed to purchase their books from the bookstore, move into dorm rooms, and get prepared for another semester at JSU. University President John Beehler believes this year is going to be an exciting year for the freshmen class.

The university recently named Christie Shelton as the new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and she is excited about what the focus will be this year to ensure students have a successful academic year.

President Beehler says majority of the damage caused by the tornado is expected to be repaired before the end of the calendar year except for the two new state of the art buildings. JSU has made great progress and President Beehler says it’s a great time to be a Gamecock.
