New Marriage Forms
Beginning next week, Alabama couples wanting to get married will no longer have to obtain a marriage license. The state legislature voted to do away with marriage license this year in order to accommodate conservative probate judges who objected “same sex” marriage.
Instead, they will have to fill out a new form, have it notarized, and take it to the probate judge within 30 days. A wedding ceremony is no longer required, but a couple can still have one if they choose. The change begins August 29th.
