United Way of East Central, AL Campaign Kick off & Day of Action in Oxford

300 volunteers came together to help package 50,000 meals that will benefit local food banks as part of United Way of East Central Alabama’s Campaign Kick-off and Day of Action events. In addition to the thousands of packaged meals, more than 300 children will receive backpacks full of school supplies.

Volunteers worked for several hours to make sure all local food banks will packed with food to help fight against hunger in Calhoun County. United Way also kicked off its annual fundraising campaign. Free t-shirts were given to the volunteers as a sign of appreciation from the organization. Charity Navigator, one of the most recognized evaluators for charities across the country, has given United Way a perfect score. President and CEO Shannon Jenkins says it’s a great time for United Way.
