Seat Belt Law Changes September 1st
Changes to Alabama’s seat belt law will soon go into effect, requiring everyone to buckle up. Beginning September 1st, every passenger riding in the backseat will now be required to wear a seat belt.
Alabama’s current seat belt law only applies to the driver, front seat passenger, and minors in the back seat. However, the newly revised bill states that a passenger seat belt ticket can only be written as a secondary violation, meaning the vehicle has to be stopped for another reason.
