Governor Ivey Doesn't Plan to Resign Over Blackface Skit
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has no plans on resigning over her role in a college skit that happened decades ago. A college radio interview from 1967 surfaced that described Ivey wearing black paint all over her face. Since the interview surfaced, the Alabama NAACP called for the governor to resign.
Ivey has since apologize for wearing the blackface in a college skit, and says she does not plan to resign over something that happened 52 years ago. Governor Ivey acknowledged wearing the blackface six months after she told the Associated Press that she had never worn the blackface.
