Walmart to Stop Selling Handgun Ammunition
After 22 people were shot and killed in El Paso, Texas, Walmart has decided to make some changes. The superstore has announced it will stop selling handgun ammunition after selling what is currently in stock. Stores will also begin asking customers not to openly carry weapons inside Walmart locations in states that allow open carry. Concealed carry will be allowed for gun owners with permits.
Walmart has also been putting pressure on Congress to make changes to gun laws following back to back mass shootings in the U.S. The superstore currently makes up 2% of the market for gun sales with a 20% market share of ammunition sales. When the new change takes effect, Walmart officials believe it could lower between six and nine percent.
