Cedar Bluff School Receives $5,000 Governor's Award Grant

Governor Kay Ivey has selected a local school as an Alabama Bicentennial School of Excellence. Governor Ivey awarded Cedar Bluff School with a $5,000 check to support its continued commitment to student-led community engagement. Other selected schools throughout the state were also presented with the Governor’s Award Grant.

Bicentennial School recently developed projects that made meaningful contributions to their local communities in order to promote community service and engagement. Cedar Bluff created a project called, “Connect C.B.” This allowed for students to engage in several activities such as, making blankets for local rehab centers, and cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

This project helped students learn lifetime skills while also engaging in the community. The selected Schools of Excellence will be invited to participate in commemoration ceremonies in Montgomery in December.
