Transportation Grant Awarded to RMC in Anniston
When a patient learns they have cancer and they will need treatment, one of the main struggles patients deal with is finding reliable transportation to get to a from their treatments. The American Cancer Society partnered with the Northeast Regional Medical Center to try and remove that burden from some local patients here in East Alabama.
The American Cancer Society presented a $5,000 check to RMC to support transportation needs for patients undergoing cancer treatment. RMC’s grant is among ten grants dispersed throughout the south region totalting $65,000. Patient Navigator Macy Allen says that this grant will help patients receive the critical care they need.
RMC is an affiliate with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Cancer Community Network. RMC also has been accredited by the Commission on Cancer since 1991 and is one of only two hospitals in the state to currently hold the COC’s Outstanding Achievement Award.
