The design phase for the new federal courthouse building in Anniston is underway and exterior design renderings approved by the US General Services Administration have been released. The three story courthouse designed to complement downtown Anniston’s historic features, will feature a limestone and brick facade that will include a district courtroom, a bankruptcy courtroom, three judges’ chambers, and 13 secured parking spaces.
The City of Anniston successfully transferred the deed to the former City Hall building over to GSA late last month and the demolition process to that building is expected to begin this fall. The overall construction process for the $42.6 million federal courthouse building will take two-years to complete. The Birmingham based construction firm, B.L. Harbert International, developed the design and will build the new facility.
