Defense Appropriations Advances

United States Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Richard Shelby and the subcommittee completed a markup of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for the 2020 fiscal year. The department makes important investments in our military and supports programs that protects the critical interest of US national security.

 

The bill recommends more than $622 billion in base Defense funding, $70.7 billion for Overseas Contingency Operations, in addition to more than $1 billion to go towards emergency funding. Senator Shelby says the increase in funding will help the National Defense Strategy by improving readiness, innovation, and effectiveness.
