New Chief Deputy in Calhoun County

A woman who began working as a part-time clerk at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office 24 years ago is now the county’s newest Chief Deputy. Since beginning her career at the Sheriff’s Office in 1995, Chief Deputy Lynde Meeder has been an Investigator, Emergency Service Team commander, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.

Meeder now serves as acting Chief Deputy since former Chief Deputy, Jon Garlick retired last month. As a native of Calhoun County, Chief Deputy Meeder says she looks forward to serving the community she’s lived in the majority of her life while also learning new how to be the best at her job.

Lieutenant Falon Hurst and Captain Joey Stone have also promoted to high positions at the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Matthew Wade says he looks forward to seeing how they develop their servant leadership to help Calhoun County and its residents.
