School Resource Officers

The Cherokee County Board of Education is a step closer to implementing a school resource officer program. County Commission Chairman Tim Burgess met with school board members Tuesday afternoon to talk about the potential costs and the division of the cost among the school system, the county commission, and the sheriff’s office.

The next step in the process is for the school board to send a letter to the county commission detailing how many officers the board is willing to pay for and how much it will cost. During next Tuesday’s work session, the board will hold an executive session to work on the details of the plan with hopes of approving it by October 1st.
