Volunteers go above and beyond to be of service to others and are not recognized as often as they should. A local woman who has proven to be an exceptional volunteer throughout the community has been selected as the winner of a contest for her impact of service.
Jessica Brown has dedicated much of her time towards organizing the United Way of Etowah County “Day of Action” Campaign since 2008. Since then, more than 700 volunteers have performed more than 500 community and agency projects. Brown has also helped raise money for library programs, leadership programs, along with a host of other fundraising opportunities to better communities in Calhoun and Etowah counties. AARP is the creator of this contest that chose Brown as the winner out of more than 900 other nominees to represent the state.
As a token of appreciation, Brown has received and 8 day 7 night cruise to New England and Canada. She will be joined on the cruise by other outstanding community service volunteers from other non-profits.
