Family Files Lawsuit Against Major Pipeline Company
The family of a Heflin man who was killed in a pipeline explosion has filed a federal lawsuit against the Georgia based company, Colonial Pipeline. The lawsuit filed by Anthony Willingham’s estate accuses the company of failing to tell crew workers where a major underground pipeline was located before they ruptured the line, which triggered the explosion.
In 2016, Willingham was working to repair the pipeline after a previous gasoline spill-caused by Colonial Pipeline. The lawsuit also states that the company’s project inspector failed to appear at the site following the explosion. The incident injured four other workers and burned for several days as crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
