Gadsden Man Charged with Murder

Investigators are working to figure out what led to the shooting death of an Anniston plumber who was working at a home in Gadsden over the weekend. 61-year-old Orva McDonald is charged with murder for the death of 49-year-old Douglas Sparks of Anniston.

Deputies responded to a call of shots fired at a home on Highway 411 in North Gadsden where they found Sparks wounded in the side yard of McDonald’s home. Deputies later discovered that the victim was replacing the plumbing at McDonald’s home in North Gadsden.

Investigators know that McDonald and Sparks had no previous relationship or acquaintance status prior to the contracted plumbing work. McDonald is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center with no bond.
